Plot summary

Freddy Gale, a jewelry store owner, has been drinking his way through the years since his daughter Emily was killed by a drunk driver, and he no longer lives with his ex-wife Mary. When John Booth, the man who was driving that night, is released from prison, Freddy visits Mary and tells her he means to kill him. Booth moves into a trailer on his parents' property and wants only to resume an ordinary life, though remorse over Emily stays with him. Freddy comes to the trailer with a pistol, and the two men talk: Booth will not call the police and asks for time to enjoy his freedom first. Freddy grants him three days.
