Early training
Bradford was admitted to the Actors Studio in 1962 and studied there for two years, which led to roles in Studio productions including Mother Courage and Blues for Mister Charlie.
Big break
Director Arthur Penn, an Actors Studio member, noticed Bradford's work and gave him a part in The Chase in 1966. Lew Grade then brought Bradford to Great Britain in 1967 for Man in a Suitcase.
First role
In 1961, Bradford served as Rod Steiger's understudy in the touring company of A.E. Hotchner's A Short, Happy Life, a production that closed before reaching Broadway.
