The Crime Doctor's Warning (1945) on Netflix

Plot summary

Clive Lake, a World War II veteran, visits Dr. Robert Ordway with concerns about his memory. The psychiatrist suggests Lake may suffer from transient amnesia, which brings headaches and leaves him with no recollection of his actions. While painting a model, Lake feels a severe headache coming on and calls Ordway, asking him to come to his studio apartment at once. He then tells the model he is stepping onto the roof for air. Someone slips into the apartment and attacks the model, dropping a key under the sofa. Later, during a party at Lake's apartment, his girlfriend is found murdered beneath a sofa. The police suspect Lake, but Ordway is not convinced and begins his own inquiry.
