Kit Guard
Biography
Kit Guard was a Danish-American actor who began his screen career in the 1920s. In 1913 he took a job as assistant stage manager and actor at San Francisco's Alcazar Theatre, and he later appeared at the Wigwam Theatre. His first sound film was The Racketeer (1929), where he played a small-time criminal, a type he often played in supporting parts. Over a long career he made more than 400 films. From 1923 to 1927 he partnered with Al Cooke in a series of comic films, and the two came together again for the 1931 low-budget film Defenders of the Law opposite Mae Busch. Though many of his roughly 30 features were poverty row productions, he also had small uncredited bits in Frank Capra's It Happened One Night (1935) and You Can't Take It With You (1938). His last screen work was as a doorman in The Joker Is Wild (1957). He died in 1961.
