Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Before Andrew Garfield was cast as Spider-Man, other actors considered for the role included Michael Angarano, Drake Bell, Jamie Bell, Frank Dillane, Alden Ehrenreich, Josh Hutcherson, Aaron Johnson, Joe Jonas, Logan Lerman and Anton Yelchin.
- A large stunt double was originally set to play the 9-foot-tall Lizard, but Rhys Ifans insisted on playing the monster himself. He wore a motion capture suit, a cardboard head and a green sleeve over his right arm, which was erased in post-production so Dr. Curt Connors appeared to be an amputee.
- The Amazing Spider-Man was the first Hollywood production to be filmed with the RED Epic camera, and it was shot in 3D at 5K resolution.
- Sally Field said she took the role of Aunt May as a favor to her friend, the producer Laura Ziskin, because she knew it would be Ziskin's last film. Ziskin died in 2011.
- The film was initially going to be shot in 2D and converted to 3D during post-production, but with the help of the 3D technology company 3ality Technica, the decision was made at the last minute to shoot in 3D instead.
- The crew spent months building rigs so that Andrew Garfield and his stunt doubles could swing without computer-generated imagery. One rig on Riverside Drive in Harlem was hundreds of feet long and let a man swing through traffic.
- The "decay rate algorithm" featured in The Amazing Spider-Man was inspired by a real-life scientific principle, the Gompertz-Makeham law of mortality.
