Plot summary

Joseon's navy was shattered at Chilcheollyang, leaving twelve battle-ready ships and a single turtle ship as the fleet's last hope. Yi Sun-sin is recalled to command and must block the Japanese advance toward the capital, though his officers and troops see little chance of success. The Japanese send Kurushima Michifusa, a naval commander with a pirate's reputation and a private vendetta against Yi, to lead the vanguard, and at their base at Haenam, Todo Takatora's commanders expect an easy march on Hansong to seize King Seonjo. Yi moves his fleet into the Myeongryang Strait, where the currents are powerful and dangerous.
