Plot summary
In 1950, the North Korean army occupies most of South Korea, and an American-led UN coalition arrives to aid the South. General Douglas MacArthur plans an amphibious landing at the port of Incheon, a strategy opposed by the other military branches and dependent on intelligence from inside the occupied city. Captain Jang Hak-soo, a former Korean People's Army officer now with ROK Navy Intelligence, leads seven members of the X-ray unit into the North Korean command center, disguised as an inspection unit. They must find the mine placements and artillery defenses, learn the harbor's currents and tides, and secure a lighthouse for the landing. Commander Lim Gye-jin, a Soviet-trained protégé of Kim Il Sung, is suspicious of the mission and has his staff watch the newcomers, while the KLO warns Jang that time is short.
