Plot summary
In September 1950, with the Korean War underway, General MacArthur orders the landing at Incheon. To keep North Korean forces from expecting that attack, smaller operations are staged at other points along the coast. No regular units can be spared, so 772 student volunteers, most about seventeen and with only two weeks of boot camp training, are formed into the Independent 1st Guerrilla Battalion. Captain Lee Myeong-jun commands them. Their mission at Jangsari Beach in Yeongdeok is to strike at North Korean supply lines near the Pusan Perimeter. Weapons, food and supplies fall short of what the mission needs.
