Plot summary
Whitney Wolfe Herd, recently graduated from Southern Methodist University, brings her ambition to a technology conference, where the entrepreneurs and practitioners she approaches pay her little attention. As she leaves, she meets Sean Rad, a co-founder of the startup Hatch Labs, who invites her to visit. She appears at the office the next day and sits in on his pitch for Cardify, where she persuades skeptical investors and earns a job as marketing director. Inside the company the staff show more excitement for a planned dating app than for Cardify, and when Sean dislikes the name Matchbox, Whitney offers Tinder. To learn the product she uses it herself, going on dates. At her former campus she tries a launch through fraternity and sorority groups, and the students take to it quickly. Sean makes her a co-founder.
