Plot summary
Gabriella is a teenager in New York. Her father teaches at her high school, and when he steps in to help a student who is being bullied, he is killed and Gabriella is there to see it. She and her mother leave the city for Florida to try to heal, and Gabriella starts at a new school. There, in the lunchroom, she watches a boy take the same kind of abuse, and the pain she came to escape is in front of her again. Getting through lunch means halting the bullying, which would put her up against the school's most violent boy.
