Plot summary
Thirteen teenage boys have vanished in Cape May, Oregon, over the decade before the summer of 1984, and the cases have never been linked or solved. Davey Armstrong, fifteen, works a paper route and spends his days with Dale "Woody" Woodworth, Curtis Farraday and Tommy "Eats" Eaton at a treehouse, talking about Nikki, Davey's babysitter. Davey thinks his neighbor Wayne Mackey, a police officer, is the Cape May Slayer, but his friends dismiss the idea because Davey is fond of conspiracy theories and urban legends. When a boy Davey saw inside Mackey's house disappears, they agree to help him investigate.
