Plot summary
Don works with Cyril, Steve and Edwin as mechanics at London Transport's bus overhaul works in Aldenham. On a wet summer lunch break Don arrives, having persuaded the company to lend the four of them a double-decker bus, and the friends convert it into a mobile home for a drive across continental Europe. In France they meet Sandy, Angie and Mimsie, a singing trio whose car has broken down, and the destination becomes Athens. That night they find a stowaway on board who gives the name Bobby. They also agree to give a lift to Orlando, a mime artist, whose large entourage must be accommodated too.

- The producers decided Lauri Peters, the film's female lead, was not a strong enough singer after test recording sessions, so all her singing in the film and on the soundtrack album was dubbed by session vocalist Grazina Frame, who had also dubbed for Cliff Richard's earlier film The Young Ones.
- Cliff Richard, Melvyn Hayes and the Shadows were recalled to Elstree some weeks after shooting finished to record the song Bachelor Boy, because the distributors felt the film was too short.
- To film different segments, Associated British Picture Corporation of Elstree bought three used RT double-decker buses from London Transport and converted all three to look like a single bus, RT1881, complete with a fake registration number, WLB991.
- The film gave the photographer Daniel Meadows the idea of emulating Benjamin Stone by traveling around Britain with his camera in 1973 and 1974.
