Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Robert Redford reportedly insisted that his character, gay in the original novel, take some interest in women, and Warner Bros., fearful of the potential controversy, had the film acknowledge the character's bisexuality only through brief, oblique lines of dialogue.
SPOILER
The house that was destroyed at the climax of the film was once owned by actress Barbara La Marr.- Natalie Wood did not sing for herself in the film: her singing voice was dubbed by session singer Jackie Ward, except for the introduction to the song "You're Gonna Hear from Me".
- Wood's vocal recordings for the film's other songs went unused and unheard on commercial recordings until Film Score Monthly released them on CD #187 in April 2009.
- The film was a box office and critical failure on release, but later gained a cult following from television showings and its release on home video.
