Plot summary

Marty Kingston is a veteran detective in Detroit's narcotics division. His partner is Sal Quintana, and their circle includes Tyrone Fowler and Jimmy Rogan. The four of them bring down the White Alliance, a neo-Nazi biker gang, and then split more than a million dollars of drug money between them. Quintana also extorts a strip club in town, taking a fee he calls protection. One night, as he collects that money, someone in a hood ambushes and kills him. After the funeral, Kingston's superior, Walker, hands him a new partner, the homicide detective Dan Sullivan, and sends the pair after Quintana's killer. The strip club owner remembers that Quintana used to collect with a friend. Sullivan questions Fowler and Rogan, who refuse to cooperate and warn him off.
