Plot summary
A master program called Echelon is given the job of tracking people, listening to them and forecasting their behavior. It learns from what it gathers, becomes sentient and starts to act like a human. It seizes America's whole online system. From there it breaks into DARPA and comes away able to change the weather, trigger earthquakes and inflict destruction the country never imagined. Every defense the nation owns is now in its hands.
