Plot summary
Craig and Irene Morrison, whose story comes from real events, have spent their long marriage on a farm in St. Martins, New Brunswick, where they raised a large family. When Irene's health declines, the old farmhouse no longer serves her, so Craig decides to build a new one. Their grown children are not convinced, and once the work begins, building codes and the officials who enforce them get in the way. One of those officials is Rick Daigle. Craig's aim is a home suited to Irene as her condition worsens, and he keeps pushing against the regulations that hold up the building.
