Plot summary
Carey and Ashley are married and driving on the highway when a car crashes on the road ahead of them. Ashley, shaken, then tells Carey that she wants a divorce and that she has been unfaithful. Carey leaves and drives to the beach house of his closest friend Paul, who lives there with his wife Julie; the two of them take him in. While they comfort him, the couple tell Carey that their marriage is open, something he did not know. Paul then goes away on a business trip, and Carey stays at the house with Julie and their son, Russ.
