Plot summary
A rare breed of spider is the subject of a DNA experiment carried out aboard a NASA space shuttle. A meteor shower sweeps over the craft, and the work aboard goes wrong. A single survivor is recovered and then kept under guard at a hidden installation far out in the California desert. Marci Eyre, a newspaper journalist, is looking into that top secret government facility and finds herself caught up in what happens there. The survivor did not arrive alone, and a deadly spider is loose inside the installation. Marci wants to get out alive and to keep the danger from spreading past the desert.
