Peter visits Doctor Strange at the New York Sanctum and asks for a spell that will make everyone forget he is Spider-Man. Strange begins casting it and Peter keeps interrupting with changes meant to spare the people closest to him, and the spell breaks. Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.

  • Sony and Marvel Studios ended their Spider-Man production deal in August 2019, but after fan backlash and a personal appeal from Tom Holland to Disney CEO Bob Iger and Sony's Tom Rothman, the companies struck a new agreement a month later.
  • To keep Tobey Maguire's and Andrew Garfield's returns secret, many actors coming back from earlier Spider-Man films were brought to the set in cloaks to hide their involvement.
  • The first trailer drew 355.5 million global views in 24 hours, beating the record held by Avengers: Endgame and more than doubling the views of the Far From Home trailer.
  • Chinese authorities asked for the Statue of Liberty to be removed from the film as a condition of release in the country, but Sony refused.
  • Alfred Molina's Doctor Octopus was de-aged digitally to look as he did in Spider-Man 2, and his mechanical tentacles were created entirely through CGI rather than the puppetry used in that earlier film.
  • The writers considered Kraven the Hunter as the main villain but dropped the idea because Sony wanted to feature the character in a solo film first.
  • Thomas Haden Church's role as Sandman was cut down by the pandemic and rewrites, leaving him to record scratch dialogue and some motion capture in a San Antonio parking lot.
