Plot summary
Jimmy Hawkins wants to follow his father, Andy, into space. A scholarship from Col. Roy Manley takes him to Space Camp, run by Commander Phillips, where he joins the Warriors: Rusty, the mechanic; Bao Yuen, the rocket scientist; Dani, the robotic engineer; Sergei, the computer whiz; and Lacey, the pilot. The Warriors train against the Titans, captained by Hunter, for the prize of a place on the space station the following year. Jimmy's mother, Sally, refuses to let him go because of what happened to Andy at NASA, so he fakes a recording in his father's voice and tells her he is going fishing.
