Plot summary
Matt Taylor is an American schoolteacher who arranges a proposal and a wedding in Italy. On the wedding day his fiancée, Heather, leaves him at the altar with a note saying she is not ready for marriage. He cannot find her, and he is told nothing can be refunded, so he joins the honeymoon activities on his own. Two couples on the same package keep him company: Julian and Meghan, who divorced and married each other again for a third time, and Neil and Donna, a psychotherapist and a physical therapist. At a café he meets the owner, Gia, who gets his wallet back from some mischievous preteens and offers to show him the city. Matt keeps the reason for his trip to himself.

- Co-writers John Kinnane and Patrick Kinnane had Kevin James post in character as Matt Taylor on TikTok and Instagram for months before the first trailer, and many users could not tell whether he was promoting a movie or was really an art teacher who resembled him.
- Andrea Bocelli plays a dramatized version of himself in Solo Mio, his first appearance in a fictional feature film; his part came after a producer reached out to the Bocelli family and James helped with a fundraiser Bocelli was holding.
- During casting, the filmmakers passed over better known actresses in favor of Nicole Grimaudo because of the chemistry she and James showed on a Zoom call with each other.
- The Tuscan villa portrayed in Solo Mio is actually owned by Andrea Bocelli, whose wife and daughter appear in the film as members of Gia's family.
