Plot summary
Kate teaches English at a Seattle high school, where Principal Moss is pressing her to resign, and Meg struggles to sell cosmetics. One night, after the two drink away their stress, Meg proposes a vacation; she has already spent Kate's frequent flyer miles on tickets to Fort Lauderdale that cannot be refunded, so Kate agrees. On the plane, a firefighter named Ryan takes the middle seat between them, and both women flirt with him. Kate dozes off after taking anti-anxiety pills. A hurricane warning forces the flight to land in St. Louis, where the two are put up at a hotel and meet Ryan again. Word arrives that the hurricane will miss Florida; Ryan arranges a ride with Craig, a jewelry salesman who has been courting Meg without success, and the women ask to come along.
