Solitary Man (2009) on Netflix

Plot summary

Ben Kalmen made his fortune selling cars in the New York area and lost it after he was caught cutting corners in his business. Lying, affairs and bad business decisions cost him his marriage to Nancy, and he is broke now, borrowing money from his daughter Susan. He takes medication for a heart problem but never had the CAT scan his doctor ordered six years earlier, and he refuses to accept his age. His girlfriend Jordon Karsch has a father who could help him open a new auto dealership, and she wants Ben to accompany her 18-year-old daughter Allyson to the Boston campus where he studied and once gave money as a prominent donor. There he meets Daniel Cheston, a student who values his advice.
