Plot summary
Jane Ray is a sob sister, a reporter of crimes of passion for a New York tabloid. The assignment in front of her now is a young woman murdered by her husband. The sordidness of the case wears on her, and the longer she stays with it, the more the profession itself turns her stomach. She is very clever at the job. Other reporters are on the same case as well, and they try to follow the leads she turns up. Jane has no intention of handing them her story.
