Plot summary
Sandy Walsh is an American teenager and a famous young model, in Rome for a few months of photo shoots and fashion shows. Her mother Wilma and stepfather manage her career, and Wilma does not want her schooling to fall behind. She decides to hire the theologian and teacher Father Spinetti and calls the convent where he lives. The phone is answered instead by Rolando Ferrazza, a qualified graduate who works there as a janitor because he has no job. Taken for Spinetti, Rolando goes along with the mistake and presents himself as a priest, since he needs the money. Sandy's parents believe him, and the lessons begin.

Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Carlo Verdone drew the plot from a RAI journalistic report by Carlo Sartori on the "babymodels" phenomenon, which had just exploded in the early 1980s with the case of Brooke Shields, to complain about mothers exploiting their prodigal daughters.
- For the part of Sandy's mother, Wilma Walsh, Carlo Verdone first thought of Virna Lisi before settling on Florinda Bolkan.
- Christian De Sica appears in a small cameo as a fashion-show presenter; Carlo Verdone gave him the part to help his friend and brother-in-law, who was then in financial difficulty.
- Verdone had met Fabrizio Bracconeri, who plays Rolando's neighbour, in the garage where he worked, and cast him after looking for someone who spoke Roman the way Sora Lella did.
