Plot summary
In Queens, El stocks shelves at Laces, his late mother's shoe store, which his stepfather Trey now runs. Trey loads the work onto El while sparing his own sons, Zelly and Stacy, and El keeps his sneaker designs to himself. El and his best friend Sami go to the launch of a new sneaker, where El meets Kira and impresses her with how much he can tell about people from their shoes. They miss the drop, and El shows Kira around the neighborhood until he loses track of time and races home, where Trey grounds him. Kira is the daughter of Darius King, a former basketball star turned sneaker mogul, and she convinces her father to let her search for an original design before SneakerCon.
