Plot summary
Andy Sikes hides in his own basement while his wife, Martha, is upstairs with his brother Zeke, the sheriff. When Andy's young daughter, Sally, comes down, he makes her promise not to reveal that he is there. Zeke grows suspicious and searches the house, and Andy gets away in a neighbor's car. Zeke has been shot during a bank robbery involving Andy and two former friends, Ed Burton and Chris Morrow. Zeke's partner, Reed Ethington, and the FBI agents Kyle Walker and Kurt Biltmore join the case, which is told backward, one day of the week at a time, from the search for the robbers toward the heist itself.
