Plot summary
Amalia Balash and Georg Nowack are two of the workers at a Hungarian parfumerie in Budapest in 1934, and they have disliked each other from the first day. To him she seems stuck up; to her he seems arrogant and mean. Once the workday ends, both of them write anonymous letters to a lonely hearts club, and both are falling for the person on the other end of the correspondence. Neither realizes that the anonymous correspondent is the coworker they quarrel with at the shop. The parfumerie also holds two more of the workers, Ilona Ritter and Steven Kodaly, whose own romance keeps starting and stopping.
