Plot summary
Beth Moss is a teenager who seems to have everything: she is attractive, popular, and successful at school and ballet. She believes she fails to meet expectations and has no control over her life. Her parents are divorced: her mother is Dr. Nina Moss, a child psychologist, and her father, John Moss, has remarried. Beth is afraid of growing up and worries that she does not fit in with her friends as they mature. To feel in charge of one part of her life, she secretly binges and purges. At school and at home she presents the happy daughter everyone expects while keeping the routine hidden.
