Plot summary

Karen Bird comes from a white middle-class family. Jack Blueblood's mother died in childbirth, and his abusive father raised him; as a boy he became fixated on Elvis Presley. The two meet at a mental rehabilitation facility in 1974 and fall in love. Jack tells Karen that killing the singer is his life's destiny. After a doctor at the facility touches Karen inappropriately, Jack shoots him and the guards, and the couple escapes. They go to Jack's home, where his friend Teijo Littlefoot is waiting; before Jack was sent to the facility, Teijo had stashed guns and money for him, but the money is gone.
