Plot summary
Xu Wenwu found the ten rings a thousand years ago and built the Ten Rings organization. In 1996 he sought the hidden village of Ta Lo, met its guardian Ying Li, and married her; their children are Shang-Chi and Xialing. After Ying Li's death, Wenwu took up the rings again and raised Shang-Chi as a fighter, and at fourteen the boy left for San Francisco. There he lives as Shaun, a parking valet with his friend Katy, until the Ten Rings attack the two of them on a bus and take a pendant his mother gave him. Fearing for his sister Xialing, who wears a matching one, Shang-Chi travels to Macau with Katy.
