Plot summary

Joanna Scott is secure in what she knows about herself: she is a good wife to her husband, Dale, and a successful magazine journalist, and the two have just celebrated ten years of marriage. Then Dale leaves her for another woman and her world comes apart. Her self-esteem is shattered. She asks how this could happen to her, and she doubts her attractiveness as a woman and her worth as a person. An assignment sends her to Paris to interview Madame Simone, a madame there. Joanna becomes her pupil. Under Simone's tutelage she learns the secrets of seduction, and something in her begins to reawaken.
