Plot summary
Climate changes known as the Cloud Fall have left the world barely livable. Barter rules, and the two things worth having are tabs, water purifiers, and silver ground fine to line the inside of breathing masks against Black Lung, a fatal airborne disease. Driving fossil-fuel vehicles is banned, so Attica Gage works as a bounty hunter, turning in lawbreakers for tabs and silver. Her mentor Doc tells her a big reward is posted for Thomas Jackson, a criminal who is gathering outlaws into a settlement called Defiance.
