Plot summary
Mitchell and Carter have been friends for years, though the two have drifted apart. On a road trip across the California desert, their truck breaks down, and Carter confesses that he removed a part from the engine himself, hoping the delay would give them time to talk. Carter still writes and has not found success, and he thinks Mitchell has sold out; Mitchell gave up music for an office job and thinks Carter has never grown up. A passing motorist offers help, and Carter replaces the part, but the truck still will not start. Stranded, the friends argue about the choices each has made and blame each other.
