Plot summary
Fed up with his work as a Pentecostal preacher, Sam Kinison left the ministry to try comedy, taking on subjects other comedians avoided. His screaming delivery, his extreme humor and his irreverent view of life drew attention, helped in part by Rodney Dangerfield, who showcased him on an HBO special. The documentary gathers rare early footage of Kinison preaching and of his stand-up sets at the Comedy Store, along with comedians and other performers who appear as themselves.
