Trey Parker
Biography
Trey Parker is an American animator, filmmaker, actor, and songwriter. Born in Conifer, Colorado, he attended the University of Colorado Boulder, studying film and Japanese, and there began working with Matt Stone. Their student project was the independent feature Cannibal! The Musical (1993). Fame arrived through the animated satire South Park, which debuted in 1997, and with the big-screen South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut (1999). Parker writes, directs, and voices many characters on South Park, work that earned him five Primetime Emmy Awards and a Peabody. He appeared in BASEketball (1998). With Stone he made Team America: World Police (2004), a satirical action film performed by marionettes. Parker and Robert Lopez co-wrote The Book of Mormon, which opened to positive reviews and brought him four Tony Awards and a Grammy. He shared an Academy Award nomination for Blame Canada, written with Marc Shaiman, from South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut. In 2026 he entered the Television Hall of Fame.
