Steve Reevis

Steve Reevis was a Native American actor of Blackfeet heritage. Born in Browning, Montana, and raised on the Blackfeet Indian Reservation, he studied at Flandreau Indian School and Haskell Indian Junior College before entering films. His first movie work was as a stunt rider in War Party (1987), and his first acting role came in Twins (1988). He then appeared as a Sioux warrior in Dances with Wolves (1990) and as the Apache scout Chato in Geronimo: An American Legend (1993). In 1995 he took the role of Yellow Wolf in Last of the Dogmen, and he was cast in Fargo (1996) and the television movie Crazy Horse, earning First Americans in the Arts awards for both in 1996. He received another FAITA honor in 2004 for the ABC series Line of Fire. Later credits included The Missing (2003), The Longest Yard (2005), the miniseries Into the West (2005), and the Fox series Bones. He died in 2017.
