Biography

Ray Park, a martial artist and stunt performer from Scotland who also acts, is best known for bringing Darth Maul to the screen in the Star Wars films. Born in Glasgow, he moved to London at seven, where his father, a Bruce Lee fan, introduced him to martial arts; he trained in Hapkido, Shaolin Kung Fu and wushu, and spent 1991 to 1996 on the British national wushu team. He broke into film as a stunt double for Robin Shou and James Remar on Mortal Kombat Annihilation. The Phantom Menace (1999) made him the physical Darth Maul, and Toad in X-Men (2000) gave him his first speaking role. He later played Snake Eyes in G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra (2009) and G.I. Joe: Retaliation (2013), a soulless mercenary in Hellbinders (2009), and Edgar in Heroes, and he reprised Maul in Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018) and through motion capture on Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
