Randall Duk Kim
Biography
Randall Duk Kim is an American actor known on stage for a classical repertoire and for his interpretations of Frank Chin's plays, and on screen as the Keymaker in The Matrix Reloaded (2003) and the voice of Master Oogway in the Kung Fu Panda films. He was raised on a Hawaiian farm near the Koko Head Crater, and in 1964 he moved to New York City to work as a professional actor. He began in theater at 18, made his New York mark in Chin's The Chickencoop Chinaman in 1972, and played the title part in Pericles, Prince of Tyre in 1974. In Spring Green, Wisconsin, he helped found the American Players Theatre in 1977 and later acted as its artistic director. He has won an Obie Award and was nominated for an Outer Critics Circle Award, and he has appeared in Anna and the King (1999), Dragonball Evolution (2009) and Kung Fu Panda 3 (2016).

A first
In 1972, Kim starred in Frank Chin's The Chickencoop Chinaman, staged by The American Place Theatre. It was the first play by an Asian American to be professionally produced in New York.
Behind the camera
In 1977, Kim helped start the American Players Theatre in Spring Green, Wisconsin, alongside Anne Occhiogrosso and Charles Bright. He also served as the theater's artistic director.
Early training
Kim credited Morris Carnovsky with inspiring him to become an actor after he saw The Merchant of Venice, Twelfth Night and Richard III at the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego.
