Biography

Pat Shortt is an Irish actor, comedian, and writer from County Tipperary. He toured with Jon Kenny as the comedy duo D'Unbelievables, whose live shows sold out Vicar Street for fourteen weeks before the act ended in 2000. On television he played Tom in Father Ted, then created the RTÉ comedy Killinascully in 2003, returning to Dan Clancy and other D'Unbelievables characters; the series ran for five seasons and six Christmas specials. He later created and starred in another RTÉ comedy, Mattie, set in a Garda station, which was retitled and reworked in 2011. Shortt won the Best Actor IFTA for his performance in Lenny Abrahamson's Cannes award-winning film Garage, and An Post issued a stamp featuring him in that role in 2008. He also appeared in an episode of Moone Boy in 2014.
