Plot summary
Laura works as a barista in Dublin and struggles to make progress on the novel she is writing. She shares a flat with Tyler, an American woman estranged from her family, and the two spend their nights drinking and taking drugs. Tyler is included in Laura's family gatherings, and Laura's sister is pregnant. Then Laura meets Jim, a concert pianist, and they become engaged; shortly afterwards he gives up alcohol. Laura keeps partying with Tyler while also spending nights with Jim. The women become friends with a poet, Marty, and his circle of literary friends, and Laura is attracted to him.
