Plot summary
Nan, a retired school teacher in Dublin, lives among decades of accumulated belongings. Her middle-aged children decide to clear the house out without telling her, and they pay her teenage granddaughter Emma to take her out for the day. Nan returns in the early evening to fresh furniture and a clean house. She then tells the family that fifty years of savings, close to a million euros gathered from her pension, the basement flat she rented out, an inheritance and whatever her husband did not drink, were kept inside her mattress. The mattress has been taken away, and the family sets out to find it.
