Plot summary
The single men of an isolated Donegal village have watched the young women leave for opportunities elsewhere. Kieran the butcher, Ollie and the others write to a Miami newspaper, placing an advertisement that invites women aged twenty to twenty-one to come and live in the village. The whole town learns of the advertisement. Kate, who runs the pub and is separating from her husband while raising a young daughter, has caught the attention of a single sheep farmer, and Kieran begins to notice his assistant Siobhan. Ollie orders Dutch magazines that the postmistress will not hand over. The men and the women alike take their troubles to the village's movie-loving priest.
