Michael Robbins
Biography
Michael Robbins was an English actor who worked as a bank clerk before amateur dramatic performances led him to acting. His first television part came in Roll-on Bloomin' Death, and comedy became his main field. He was best known as Arthur Rudge, Olive's sharp-tongued husband, in the sitcom On the Buses from 1969 to 1973, and he played the part again in the spin-off films On the Buses (1971), Mutiny on the Buses (1972) and Holiday on the Buses (1973); he left the show before its last season to go back to theater work. He also had non-recurring roles in Man About the House, The Good Life, One Foot in the Grave, George and Mildred and Hi-de-Hi!, straight parts in The Sweeney, Z-Cars, Minder and The Bill, and a long career in radio. His films included The Whisperers (1967), The Looking Glass War (1970), Zeppelin (1971) and Victor Victoria (1982).
