Plot summary
Stan Butler, a driver for the Town & District bus company, wants to marry Susy, a clippie he works with. Jack, his conductor and close friend, is pleased for him. At home the news lands badly: Mum fears Stan will move out of the Butler house, where his wages keep the household going. When Arthur, his brother-in-law, loses his job, Stan becomes the main earner and the wedding has to wait. A new manager, Mr. Jenkins, takes over the depot and wants the buses to make money, with reforms that mean harder work for the crews. Stan and Jack dislike the changes. Their answer is a mutiny: the crews wear the company uniform and nothing else.
