Marshall Napier
Biography
Marshall Napier was a New Zealand-born actor, playwright and graphic artist who built a long career in supporting roles across Australasian film and television. He grew up in Lower Hutt and, before turning to acting, worked as a laborer, factory hand and truck driver, and spent a year studying graphic design at Wellington Polytechnic. His first professional acting job came in 1975 at Wellington's Downstage Theatre, and he moved to Australia in 1988 to further his career, becoming an established name in film, theater and television. He was also known for his stage work: his play Freak Winds was performed in Australia, New Zealand, the United States and Canada, and other plays of his were broadcast on ABC radio. His starring role in Bellbird (2019) helped that film win awards at several international film festivals.
