Plot summary
The Oil Wars have devastated the planet, and in the 21st century the land outside the cities is lawless. Colonel Jacob Straker leads a war party from a large armored truck, taking fuel from traders and using a hidden supply depot as a base. His daughter Corlie refuses his order to execute a captured trader and flees across the desert. A squad rides after her; Hunter, an ex-soldier on a high-tech motorbike, drives them off. Corlie tells him a false story about her past, saying that she had been held captive since her family died. Hunter brings her to Clearwater Farm, a walled community run as an old-fashioned democracy, and the residents take her in. Straker has no intention of letting her go.

- Battletruck was filmed on the Central Otago plains in New Zealand and largely used a New Zealand crew and New Zealand actors despite being a Hollywood release; it was made there in part due to the 1981 Writers Guild of America strike.
- Cokeliss had written a four page treatment for Battletruck in the mid 70s during the energy crisis, then took the project to Roger Corman, who responded positively to the script and gave Cokeliss complete creative control.
