Plot summary
Danny Clark is eighteen and lives in Footscray, a suburb of Melbourne. He wants to raise his cool factor enough to win the affections of Joanna Johnson, so he offers to take her out in a Jaguar, but the 1963 Nissan Cedric he drives is not cool. Needing a Jaguar quickly, Danny trades the Cedric in, and the used car salesman Gordon Farkas tricks him into buying a 1973 Jaguar XJ6. The Jaguar's engine blows up, and after a confrontation with Gordon Farkas, Joanna leaves him. Danny now wants justice from Gordon Farkas, and he wants to win Joanna back.
