Mark Lewis Jones
Biography
Mark Lewis Jones is a Welsh actor from Rhosllannerchrugog, near Wrexham, who began performing with the Clwyd Youth Theatre as a teenager and later studied at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. He has worked with the Royal Shakespeare Company and taken roles at Shakespeare's Globe in London. On television he played Detective Inspector Russell Bing in 55 Degrees North (2004) and Detective Sergeant Ray Lloyd in Murder Prevention in 2004. His film credits include Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World (2003), Troy (2004), and Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017), where he played Captain Moden Canady. He is known for Rob Morgan in Stella, Steve Baldini in Keeping Faith, and Edward Millward in The Crown. In 2016 he received a BAFTA Cymru Best Actor award for The Passing, also called Yr Ymadawiad, and he has done voice work for radio and video games.

A role that slipped away
Mark Lewis Jones tried out for Star Wars: The Force Awakens in 2015 without landing a role, but the sequel, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, later brought him the part of Captain Canady, which he said he performed with "a posh Welsh accent".
