Plot summary
Power is a pill that circulates in a near-future New Orleans and gives whoever takes it a superpower for five minutes, though the power differs from person to person. A distributor hands doses out to dealers, among them Newt, whose teenage cousin Robin sells the drug as well and hopes to make it as a rapper. One of Robin's regular customers is Frank Shaver, a New Orleans police detective whose dose hardens his skin so that bullets cannot pierce it. Art, a former soldier, is searching the city for the man behind the supply, known as Biggie. Frank's commanding officer, Captain Craine, is under pressure from government officials to end any inquiry into the drug.
